After a relaxing evening at an onsen, which also had overnight accommodations, I took the train to the base of Mt . Mitake.
There was a cable car that took you to the top. Here is a picture of the cable car that gets pulled up the mountain by a cable.
At the top of the mountain was a small village with places to stay and shops on the way to the temple. Here are some photos:
The Sakura was just starting to bloom, because of the higher altitude. The view of the surrounding mountainside was spectacular.
I am staying at one of the shrine accommodations called Kamadori Sanso, which is close to the temple. Tomorrow I will participate in a Takigyo ceremony, which is supposed to cleanse one body and soul by standing under a waterfall three times for 10 seconds each time.

It was a beautiful day and the mountain view from the room was spectacular. The different birds singing were wonderful to hear in the morning.
